Cyanotoxins and Liver Cancer Development (Liver Health Study)
This study seeks to understand the role of a common bacteria found in the environment, called Cyanobacteria, and the poisons they produce that may lead to a chronic liver disease and liver cancer.

What do I have to do?
This study visit will be at the UH Cancer Center in Kakaʻako and may require up to 2 hours of your time. During that time you will:
– Answer a survey about your medical history and other health information
– Complete height, weight, waist, and blood pressure measurements
– Have an ultrasound of your liver (also called FibroScan)
– Provide saliva, urine, and blood samples

ELIGIBILITY:
• You must be 40-70 years old and a resident of Hawaiʻi
• No history of cancer
• You must also meet other medical criteria
• The study staff will talk to you and find out if you are eligible
